Boomer Esiason

Boomer Esiason played college football at the University of Maryland, and earned honorable mention for the All-American team in 1982 and 1983.   He was drafted in the second round (38th pick overall) of the 1984 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.   He played 9 years with the Bengals, then 3 years with the New York Jets and 1 year with the Arizona Cardinals, before finishing his career with 1 more year with the Bengals.

Esiason started just 4 games in his rookie year, then became the Bengals' regular starter in 1985 and started at least 12 games for each of the next 11 years.  He finished his career with 80 wins and 93 losses in 173 starts and 187 games played.  He completed 2969 passes (26th all-time) in 5205 attempts (23rd all-time) for a 57% completion percentage.  He threw for a total of 37,920 yards (22nd all-time) with 247 touchdowns (23rd all-time) and 184 interceptions.

Esiason made the Pro Bowl team 4 times and was First Team All-Pro and the leagues' Most Valuable Player in 1988, when he led the Bengals to the American Conference Championship and an appearance in the Super Bowl.  He is a well-known commentator and analyst of the NFL on television and radio.
